Pastor Armstrong became the senior pastor of Tucson Baptist Temple in June of 2009. Pastor Armstrong views the opportunity to minister with the great people of TBT in seeing souls saved, discipled, and growing in their faith is truly an amazing privilege. It is Pastor Armstrong’s prayer that souls will be impacted with the Gospel message, fall in love with Jesus Christ, and grow in their new faith and walk in life.
Pastor Armstrong grew up in Fairmont, West Virginia. His mother was saved after being invited to attend a Ron Comfort crusade. The following Saturday, Pastor Doug Rutherford of Fellowship Baptist Church led Brent’s father, Dave, to the Lord in the driveway of his home. Brent was five years old when his parents trusted Jesus Christ as their personal, Lord and Savior. After his parents radical change in life, the family became actively involved in the ministry of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Brent graduated from Calvary Christian School in 1983 and began attending Bob Jones University, majoring in Bible Education. After graduation from BJU, Brent married Shelli Ann Eberle in 1987. They started their new life together in Durham, North Carolina. Due to his large school bill, Brent stayed in the trucking business to repay his loan to BJU. Once leaving Durham, Brent and Shelli have lived in a number of locations throughout the United States.
It was during the transition from Salt Lake City, UT to the Atlanta area that God began to work in Brent’s life regarding full-time Christian service. Pastor Pyle of Bible Baptist Church in Hampton, GA was instrumental in this process of leaving the business world. After preaching a message on Elijah and Elisha, Brent surrendered to full-time Christian work. It has been a continual growing process since that service of surrender in 1999.
Pastor Armstrong and Shelli have three children: Benjamin was born in 1989, is married to Valerie and lives in the Dallas, Texas area; Jennifer was born in 1991 and is attending West Coast Baptist College; and Jonathan was born in 1994 and is a student at Pusch Ridge High School. Jonathan believes God would have him to be a youth pastor and plans to also attend WCBC upon graduation. All three children have been gloriously saved and are active in their church.
