Top 100 Items You Should Consider in case of a National Emergency
Even if you don’t need more than two (you should always strive to have two of everything). Why, in case of a National Emergency, each item on this list will be great for bartering. This list can seem daunting and overwhelming; don’t let it! Just start somewhere. You will be surprised how many you can “check off” without ever going to the store. Start small and only buy things at the store that are on your list.
- Generator (important for two reasons: if you have a pool so that you can maintain clear water for potential drinking and if you have medications that require refrigeration)
- Water (living in the desert makes this a valuable and necessary commodity) / Filters / Purifiers (tablets or a SteriPen)
- Portable Toilets
- Seasoned Firewood (it takes 9-12 months for wood to season)
- Lamp Oil, Wicks, Lamps
- Coleman Fuel. (Impossible to stockpile too much.)
- Guns, Ammunition, Pepper Spray, Knives, Clubs, Bats & Slingshots (anything that can be used to protect in a time of crisis)
- Hand-can openers (not your .99 cent ones either) / hand egg beaters / whisks
- Honey / Syrups / white, brown sugar (pure cane sugar is the healthiest and can help your body in a time of great stress)
- Rice – Beans – Wheat (begin with at least a 25# bag)
- Vegetable Oil (for cooking) Without it food burns/must be boiled
- Charcoal, Lighter Fluid
- Water Containers
- Mini Heater head (Without this item, propane won’t heat a room.)
- Grain Grinder (Non-electric)
